Pozrite si túto bunkovú vežu prezlečenú za palmu
You've heard the term "urban jungle" before. Instead of lush foliage, the city is filled with towering skyscrapers and steel lamp posts. The only true foliage we've seen is more elaborate than organically grown. That said, have you ever wondered how the natural world intersects with our urban life? Check out this cell phone tower disguised as a palm tree at Bonifacio Global City.
Spotted by Reddit user u/projectbear25, this disguised cell tower towers over just about every other place in the neighborhood. However, if you don't know where to look, you might mistake the artificial leaves for just a regular tree.
Before you freak out, this isn't a natural freak or an overblown marketing trick. This is actually a legitimate urban planning strategy. If you've ever lived in a gated community, you've probably heard some of the arguments against building cell towers anywhere near the area. While most arguments stem from scientifically ambiguous claims about its carcinogenic properties, cell towers are often dazzling and ruin the face of a community. Debates like this have existed for as long as cell towers have existed.
Because Larson's first artificial tree was a pine tree, the stealth strategy is often referred to as Mono-Pine. However, since its inception, other forms have emerged. For example, BGC is Mono-Palm.
Mono-Palm is just one of dozens of examples across the city. The next time you see a suspiciously large tree in the distance, chances are it's actually a disguised cell phone tower.
